I have my Bachelor’s in alternative medicine from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University in India and a master’s in psychology from Annamalai University in India. I continuously educate myself on many new and creative ways to help my clients.

I understand that taking the first step toward therapy can be both empowering and daunting. Know that you are not alone on this path; I am here to support you, creating a space where your experiences are valued, your struggles are understood, and your growth is celebrated. My vast knowledge covers working with adults and seniors alike. I specialize in working with clients with low mood, stress, anxiety, and depression. I have helped bring positive changes in many of my client’s lives in my unique way. I strongly believe in the definition of health accredited by the World Health Organization “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity”.

About Priya

As your therapist, I gently challenge entrenched patterns, providing a compassionate, curious, and hopeful space for you. With extensive training in evidence-based models such as CBT, ACT, psychodynamic, and mindfulness, I offer an integrative, humanistic, and experiential approach to therapy with heart-centered mindfulness at the core of the practice. The backbone of my work is always trauma-informed care with a strengths-based approach.

Currently, my work incorporates several therapeutic modalities including Dialogic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, as well as other systemic and strengths-based approaches. I work from a collaborative, strength-based perspective. This approach means that I believe that every client is an expert in their life and that it is my job to be genuinely curious in helping you recognize the skills, talents, and resources you carry while helping you to find meaning in your experiences.

My work is also grounded in systemic, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive frameworks, which means that I am curious about the systems, relationships, and narratives that impact you and shape your experience while exploring how you navigate systems of power and privilege. I also like to laugh a lot and highly value humour as a therapeutic tool.

I pride myself in how I address my clients, which is through a Holistic Approach. I tend to look well into their personal needs so that I can provide them with the best care possible. I am open to learning from different client life experiences because I believe that these experiences can teach something valuable for a lifelong benefit. Others regard me as a sweet, simple and down-to-earth person. I value family and culturally bounded personality, and therefore can better understand the client’s depth of interpersonal conflicts. I enjoy spending time with friends, reveling in each other’s company as part of my self-care routine. My hobbies include cooking innovative recipes for my loved ones and most importantly spending time with myself, reflecting on my choices and rejoicing on how far I’ve come. Music has always been my best companion and I have recently discovered that waterfalls are my therapeutic healer. I actively reinforce this to my clients: “You are not alone, and help is available if you are ready.”

As a therapist, I have come to know that compassion, both to ourselves and to others, can be a powerful tool in discerning our preferred ways of being, and in creating the life we want for ourselves - especially during a pandemic. I believe that we all deserve rest, relaxation, and happiness, without having to earn it first. Some of the ways I find relaxation and happiness are through spending time with friends and family, cooking and baking, listening to music, and disappearing into a good book or Netflix binge with my cats by my side.

My commitment, therapeutic practices, and more.
